How to: Add a title to the X-axis (category) of a chart.
Solution:
Select the X-axis title and select the 'Insert' menu and select 'Titles...'. Select 'Category (X) Axis' and type the desired text.
To add a category title:
1) Select the chart to add a category (X-axis) title:
a) If the chart is embedded on the worksheet, double-click on the chart. (A striped border with handles appears around the chart.)
b) If the chart is on a separate chart sheet, click the tab for the chart sheet and double-click on the chart. (A striped border with handles appears around the chart.)
2) Select the 'Insert' menu and select 'Titles...'. (The Titles dialog box appears.)

3) Select the 'Category (X) Axis' check box of the 'Attach Text to' group.
4) Click 'OK'. (A text box with the character X appears on the chart.)
5) Type the desired title for the X-axis.
6) Press ENTER. (The desired title replaces the character X.)
7) (Optional) Resize the chart or adjust the location of the box.
